Good search engine optimization is UUkeyUU to getting your website indexed properly with a good ranking. You may find it surprising, but there are a few small things you can do to really boost the rank of your site. Below we’ve outlined some key strategies to get you started.

Meta Tags
In the past this is one of the most important things that you needed to add to your site if you wanted any chance of getting a good ranking. Some search engines still use these to determine how your site is displayed in the search results. The most important meta tags are the title, description, and keyword tags.

· Title Tag: This should be no more than 50 characters in length. Somewhere within the title text you should have the primary keyword that you are targeting as a description for your site.

· Description Tag: This tag should be no more than 150 characters in length. It should be rich with the keywords that you are targeting and contain a well-written general description of your site.

Keyword Tag: This tag should be no more than 800 characters in length and not repeat the same word more than 3 times. The keywords should be separated with commas. Include common misspellings of keywords. Never use keywords that do not fit with your site, search engines will consider this spam and ban you. Instead of using individual keywords try instead to use key phrases.

Here is an example of how your meta tags should look like in html:

- After optimizing your meta tags, you should create a links page in your website. Link to pages that are related to your site’s topic, and if possible, send an email to the webmaster indicating that you have added his link into your website and ask him if he will be interested in exchanging links with you. This way, you will be creating back links to your website. This will help you get indexed faster and get higher rankings in search engines. Although this last technique explained has worked for several years now, I’ve heard search engines are changing the way they index pages. Keep in mind that search engines change their algorithms constantly, so don’t just rely on one technique or strategy.

Depending on the product you are promoting, you should search for a forum related to your product. i.e. - if you are promoting a Poker program, you should look for a gambling forum where poker strategy is discussed. Some forums don’t allow users to post affiliate links and as an alternative, they have a section dedicated to promote your pages and links. My advice is you post in this section at least once a week


1. In order to post a thread in a forum, you need to be registered (in most cases), others let you post anonymous threads. So register and activate your account in order to start posting. Beware: Some forums don’t let newbies post new threads, because it may look you just wanted to post your link and be gone forever, but in order to be successful, my recommendation is you integrate yourself into the community and start making friends by replying to existing threads. If you post threads about your affiliate link, you will most likely get a warning, or your post will get removed by a moderator or in certain cases you can get banned from the forum.


2. Write a catchy title for your new thread. Almost everyone who clicks on a thread to read it and finds a link, clicks on it. Writing the title of your thread will be a key step into driving visitors to your thread and therefore more clicks to your link. If the forum has the top icon feature (some goofy color symbols), I recommend you select one in order to attract visitor’s attention even more.

3. Remember to write a short description, story or whatever you want to write in the thread, don’t leave it blank and just put your link! Doing this will result in your thread being deleted pretty fast and also getting banned from the forum (account cancelled forever).

4. When inserting your affiliate link, don’t just put the url, insert a “text link” like “Click Here for more info” so that people don’t see your affiliate id beforehand (it’s unprofessional).

5. After writing your thread’s info, always hit the “preview” button to check if your affiliate link is showing and working properly, click on it to make sure, then submit.

6. Use “signatures” in every forum you register at. Signatures is the only link you can show in most forums where affiliate links are not permitted. My advice is you use banner ads instead of text links in your signature because they are more eye-catching. Using signatures is a real advantage because many forums are spidered by search engines daily and some can get good Page Rank (Google’s measurement of the importance of a page), therefore the more page rank one webpage has, more visitors will come.

7. The best forums to post to are the “dead forums”. These forums haven’t seen a new thread in many months, even years (check dates of last threads). These are great to create a new thread about a topic and post your affiliate links and websites. Although nobody post new threads in them, they receive tons of traffic everyday from people looking for info. Forums get indexed by search engines also, and if the info is always the same it can get at top positions in search engines, therefore bringing you automatic traffic. Another advantage about “dead forums” is that no moderators have done their job in months. So you can basically post ANYTHING you like and your thread won’t get removed. Pretty cool huh?

If you own a site about mountain bikes, you should write an article about it and at the end of it, include your resource box, where you include a note “about the author” and insert details about you and your website’s URL and even your email address. So once you write your article, what then? Well you may want to publish it in different article directories. These directories also serve as sites where users can grab content for their websites, so there is a good chance someone will publish your article in other websites and therefore, more backlinks for your website. Remember that word of mouth and viral videos are the best form of advertising; But again, aim at writing articles at least once a month and write to your own blog almost daily, it’s the best option.

1- Type a straight to the point title for your ad. Make sure you include the main reason a person should click on your link. i.e. : if the product you are promoting is the newest cell phone available, you can put “Buy the new Motorola xyz here”. That title will ensure you that the person who clicks on your ad is a potential buyer for the new Motorola cell phone.

2- I have had great success with adwords by providing the most details possible in the ad description. i.e. – I always put the price of the product upfront in the text ad, so that you don’t have to pay for a click if a person is just looking for prices of a product. The advantage is that if the person just reads the text ad and decides it’s not interested in buying the product at that price, the person won’t bother clicking on your ad and you save money. Deciding this is up to you . I just tell you how I made my cash. I’ve had great results doing it this way.

3- Choose your keywords and key phrases carefully. This will be the most important part of creating your text ads. You need to select keywords and key phrases that reflect exactly what you are offering. i.e.- if you are promoting music cd’s , good phrases you could add to your keyword list are “buy cd’s”, “buy cds”, “buy music cd’s” , etc. notice the word “buy” is a key word in this type of text ad because it targets people who are looking to actually “buy” music cd’s. I have obtained great results in adding the word “buy” to my keyword phrases when promoting products to sell because people who actually type “buy” in a search box are looking to buy stuff! These text ads tend to convert more than any other by just adding “buy” at the front of a key phrase or key word. Of course this could mean paying more for your ads, but at the end, I can assure you it’s worth taking the risk.

Start testing your ads with a budget of $20/day max (for starters) and a max CPC (cost per click) of $0.20 . When you begin to see a good click-through rate (at least 10% for starters) you can raise your daily budget a little. If your click-through rate doesn’t get any better, try changing your keywords and key phrases. If you’re still not seeing good results, create different text ads for the same product and see which ad is performing better. I have experienced paying WAY too much for each click for certain high-demand keywords. The best way to avoid paying too much for each click is finding keywords that are not so widely used amongst the common internet surfer. Finding these are very hard, but can lead you to higher positions in the text ads row. Tip: You can use a synonyms dictionary to find alternatives and you will be just fine.
